"Operation: Support-A-Hero"
Operation: Support-A-Hero" Was begun by Ron Dillon a Past Commandant of our detachment and is currently operated by by Ken Borders and his wife, with the support and endorsement of all the Marines of the Joseph Schmittou Detachment. It is our detachments way of supporting our troops who are engaged in combat operations in OIF and OEF. We send "Care Packages" to them as often as we can. To date we have sent in excess of 461 Packages.
As one Marine said while home on R&R, "it is nice seeing all the We support our Troops stickers and ribbons on the cars and trucks, but the real supporters are the ones who send packages and letters."
The Operation is under the direct supervision of Marine Ken Borders. He is assisted by his wife and supplemented at fund raising events by members of this detachment.
Ken's next scheduled fund raising event has not been set as of this date.
